Christmas can be a difficult time for many, especially vulnerable people and those facing hardship. Social welfare charity HEALS of Malmesbury is launching a winter welfare appeal to bring some festive cheer to local residents. The appeal will help fund a Christmas community lunch for 100 people, two pantomime trips and a huge Santa run delivering presents to 200 children, plus extra support for those in need, through the charity’s hardship fund.
Delivering this support to the Malmesbury community is HEALS’ biggest challenge of the year and only possible with the support of the wider community. There are two ways to help.
For one week only, from 12 noon on Tuesday 3 December to 12 noon on Tuesday 10 December 2024, every pound donated to HEALS of Malmesbury through The Big Give Christmas Challenge online platform will be doubled, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and the Wiltshire Match Fund.
To donate, visit the charity’s website at www.healsmalmesbury.org.uk and click on the Big Give banner or donate directly at https://bit.ly/3OyK3j2
Another way to help is to buy a present from The Giving Tree at The Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury. Hotel guests, staff and local residents are invited to pick a label from The Giving Tree, buy a gift for a child and return it unwrapped with the label to the reception desk. The Giving Tree is accepting gifts until noon on 13 December. All donated gifts will be collected for a mass Christmas present wrapping session at Malmesbury Town Hall on 16 December.
HEALS Chair of Trustees, Councillor Gavin Grant, said
"The community has always stood with HEALS to make a massive difference to local people and families. With demand for our services rising and the pressure on HEALS growing, especially around Christmas time, I hope that residents will continue to stand with us, either by having their donation doubled or buying a present for a child for the Giving Tree”
